If James Taylor and Dave Matthews spent a night together getting juiced up on pop rock, their "musical love child" would be the Mark DeRose Band! Patrick Kirchner of The Fly describes this engaging music as “thoughtful and provocative, laden with metaphors of hope and celebration for life – the stuff that makes feel good music feel so good."  Attend a live performance and you will easily  see and hear each band member’s love of performing their brand of “feel-good” music that seems to appeal to such a wide variety of listeners.

While lead singer/songwriter Mark DeRose spent the first part of his career searching for musical direction in both Boston, MA and Philly, PA he came to discover exactly what he was looking for back home:  “I never thought I would move back to my hometown of York [PA] and find the kind of kinship I found with Jay, Ben, and Dan” (Mark).  On the heels of finishing his first solo recording "Tales from the Sandcastle Kingdom", Mark knew it was time to find a new band to help him bring his songs to life on stage.  The foursome clicked immediately, on stage and off.  With Dan Brenner on drums, Ben Eberts on bass, Jay Baab on lead guitar, and all providing backing vocals, The Mark DeRose Band has become a cohesive group with clear chemistry that naturally comes through in their live performances.

Fueled by a genuine passion for performing live, The Mark DeRose Band boasts a history of numerous performances at a wide range of venues. They are keeping busy by growing a fan base hungry for great music and good times. This past April, on the very same night that the Mark DeRose band released their self titled EP, they also recorded their upcoming live album "Hear To Listen" to a sold-out crowd at the Capitol Theatre in York, PA. Fans look forward to the live recording's release due out some time in Summer of '09.

Just last year eight of the band’s songs were cleared for use on television’s oldest daytime soap opera Guiding Light, and they had the pleasure of opening for national touring artist Blues Traveler!!  According to Michael Lessner of Live Nation (Former V.P. Executive of Capitol/Motown/EMI Records), “Mark’s music is definitely going in the right direction.” Just like many first-time listeners, Lessner was “pleasantly surprised” and ready to hear more!

Equipped with an innate ability to win over a crowd, the “[Mark DeRose Band's] music shines through those ‘glass half empty days'” (Mike Cagesso, York Daily Record).  One appreciative fan summed it up by saying, "There is an honesty to their work that is so easy to connect with.  Whether it be the solid and intelligent lyrics or the intensity with which they pour themselves into their live shows, the listener can easily relate to the emotions expressed in the songs.”
